About QEC:

The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) at Daneen College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences was established in 2025 under the umbrella of Quality Enhancement Cell of Khyber Medical University. DNC&AHStook over the Quality Enhancement Cell on its regular budget as one of its permanent department reporting directly to the College Principal, tasked with improving educational standards and ensuring consistent program evaluation. Its core objectives include implementing KMU’s self-assessment framework across programs, aligning teaching and curricula with national/international benchmarks, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accreditation compliance. In practice, the QEC conducts periodic reviews of all academic programs and provides recommendations for enhancement.

Objectives:

  • Enhance Quality: Continually review and improve curricula, teaching methods, and infrastructure to meet quality standards.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Systematically gather feedback from students, faculty and employers to inform decisions and improvements.
  • Accreditation & Compliance: Ensure programs meet regulatory criteria and pursue relevant accreditations and rankings.

Vision:

To ensure high standards of nursing and allied health education through a robust, effective quality-enhancement mechanism.

Mission:

To enhance, promote and sustain the quality of all educational programs at Daneen College to the highest national and international standards, through informed decision-making, continuous monitoring, and evidence-based policies.

Organizational Structure:

The QEC is overseen by the College Principal, with a Director of QEC leading the unit. The Director reports directly to the Principal, ensuring institutional commitment to quality. Supporting the Director are other QEC officers.

Responsibilities and Functions

The QEC’s responsibilities span all aspects of academic quality. It promotes confidence in the institution by upholding degree standards and safeguarding program quality. Core functions include:

  • Program Review: Evaluate and monitor the quality of each academic program and curriculum. The QEC defines clear program outcomes and performs regular evaluations to ensure graduates meet the expected competencies.
  • Quality Assurance (QA) Processes: Develop and implement QA mechanisms (self-assessment, peer reviews, audits, KPIs) to maintain and improve educational standards. This includes setting up a qualifications framework and program specifications for each degree.
  • Continuous Improvement: Recommend improvements in teaching and support services. Based on reviews and feedback, the QEC suggests action plans to enhance faculty performance and student learning.
  • Stakeholder Feedback: Collect and analyze feedback through surveys and focus groups. The QEC uses student and faculty feedback to identify areas for enhancement.

Policies and SOPs:

The QEC establishes formal policies and standard operating procedures to guide its activities. Typical policies include:

  • Academic Program Review Policy: Outlines the self-assessment process, peer reviews, and action plans for regular program evaluation. Departments prepare self-study reports, external reviews are conducted, and follow-up plans are implemented.
  • Student Feedback Policy: Defines how student evaluations (course evaluations, surveys, focus groups) are collected, analyzed, and used to improve teaching and services. Procedures ensure results are communicated and action plans are developed.
  • Faculty Development Policy: Provides a framework for training and professional growth of faculty (workshops, seminars, higher education support), ensuring continuous enhancement of teaching skills.
  • Other SOPs: Procedures for new program approvals, data collection, and quality audits are also documented.
